Liberation Day

at Liberation Square

Liberation Day

This year marks the 82nd anniversary of Jersey's Liberation, commemorating the island's freedom from German occupation during World War II on May 9, 1945. Through events, exhibitions, and reflections, this momentous occasion offers a unique opportunity to connect generations and remember the significance of peace and freedom in Jersey.

In Jersey, Liberation Day (Jèrriais: Jour d'la Libéthâtion) is celebrated each year on 9 May, to mark the end of the Nazi German Occupation during the Second World War. It is celebrated as Jersey's national day and 2027 marks 82 years of liberation.

Expect street parades, re-enactments, local entertainment and much more. More information about the event will be published in the coming months...
