The Language Event 2027 – Jersey

Celebrate Jersey’s unique linguistic heritage at a two-day conference exploring the varieties of the Norman language as part of MILLENIUM 2027 – European Year of the Normans. Bringing together speakers, language enthusiasts and experts, the event celebrates Jèrriais and the shared Norman languages of the Channel Islands and beyond.

The Language Event 2027 – Jersey brings together language enthusiasts, academics and professionals for a weekend of discovery, discussion and exchange. The programme explores the rich variety of the Norman language, including Jèrriais (Jersey), Guernésiais (Guernsey), Sèrtchais (Sark), Aurignais (Alderney) and the languages of mainland Normandy.

Created by The Language Event founder Richard Simcott, this international gathering celebrates the importance of regional languages and the cultures they represent. Through talks, conversations and shared experiences, participants will discover how language preserves identity, history and community. Open to anyone with an interest in languages and culture.
